A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all of them have features in common.

TEDx活动是一个在社区里分享TED类型现场演讲和预录制TED大会视频的本地聚会。TEDx活动完全是在根据各个社区的不同情况独立策划和协调的。每个TEDx活动的内容和设计都是独特而独立制作的,但它们也有一些共同的特点。

TED Talk videos TED演讲视频

Every TEDx event either shows only TED Talk videos to its audience, or shows both TED Talk videos and live speakers from the community. For events less than half a day in length, two TED Talks from TED.com are required to be shown. For longer events, 25% of the total number of talks must be official TED Talk videos.

任何一个TEDx活动都可以选择只向观众播放TED演讲视频,或者选择在播放TED演讲视频的同时邀请社区里的现场讲者。对于时长不超过半天的活动,至少需要播放两个来自TED.com的TED演讲。对于更长时长的活动,官方TED演讲视频的数量应占总演讲数量的25%。

Community-driven and bias-free content 社区导向的无偏见内容

A TEDx event is organized by volunteers from the local community, and just like TED events, it lacks any commercial, religious or political agenda. Its goal is to spark conversation, connection and community. TEDx活动由本地社区的志愿者组织;与TED活动一样,TEDx活动中不包括任何商业、宗教或政治议程。它的目标是促进对话、连接和社区发展。

While planning your TEDx event, you’ll have a library of videos for inspiration and a global community to help guide you. But in the meantime, here are a couple of TEDx events to check out:

TEDxUCDavis is an entirely student-run event centered at the University of California, Davis. TEDxUCDavis gives students, faculty and locals a platform for sharing new ideas, and is dedicated to showcasing the diversity and innovation of its community. After four years of consistent growth, TEDxUCDavis has transformed from a 100-person event to this years anticipated audience of over 1,000.

In 2009, the first TEDxKibera event was held in Kibera, Nairobi, one of the largest slums in Africa. First hosted by Acumen Fellow Suraj Sudhakar, the event sparked other TEDx events in squatter cities, including Karanja, Silanga and Kangemi. TEDxKibera is at the forefront of TEDx-in-a-Box, an initiative that supports members of undeveloped and underserved communities to organize a TEDx event by providing the basic gear they need in a suitcase.

What a TEDx event is not… TEDx活动不是……

A TEDx event isn’t an industry or marketing conference. It isn’t limited to one topic or field. It isn’t used to sell something.

TEDx活动不是工业博览会或产品展销会。它不局限于某一主题或领域。它不用于销售某一产品。

A TEDx event is not organized by or for special-interest political, religious or commercial groups.

TEDx活动不会由特殊兴趣的政治、宗教或商业团体组织,也不会为上述组织服务。

A TEDx event cannot be used to raise money, not even for a charity.

TEDx活动不能用于筹资,即使为了慈善筹资也不行。

A TEDx event cannot partner with another conference or event.

TEDx活动不能和其它大会或活动建立伙伴关系。

A TEDx event can’t be co-branded with an institution except under specific license types – for a college or university, or for internal events (for corporations and organizations).

TEDx活动不能和其它机构联名,除非是在特殊的许可类型下——例如大学类型活动、公司或组织内部的活动。

A TEDx event is not a platform for professional speakers, such as motivational speakers and professional life coaches. Its purpose is to give a wide platform to those who don’t often have one.

TEDx活动不时专业讲者的平台,例如励志演说家或专业人生导师。它的目的是为那些平时没有足够演讲机会的人提供一个广阔的平台。

A TEDx event is not focused solely on entrepreneurship, business or technology. Diversity of topics is key!

TEDx活动不能单独关注于创业、商业或是科技。关键是要有多样化的主题!
